Hamburg, 27.-29.04.08 - Europe-Africa Business Summit 2008 was the first biennial Europe-Africa Business Summit in Europe, organised by private non-governmental bodies and strives to increase European private sector awareness of the many commercial opportunities in Africa. The summit was organized by NEPAD (New Partnership for Africa's Development) and took place in CCH, Congress Center Hamburg. The Main Events consisted of plenary sessions, Workshops, Private Meetings, Lighthouse Projects Presentation, Exhibition and opening Session Media Event. The summit addressed priority sector topics covering the major market segments like: Agri-Food, Construction and Building Products, Consumer Goods, Education Services and Training, Environment, Health, Information and Communication Technology, Infrastructure (Energy & power, Water, Transport), Culture, Arts & entertainment, Mining. About 600 delegates from Africa including speakers, decision makers from the private- and public sectors were expected at the summit. All together, the conferences, workshops and other meetings at the event have been so organised that on average about 40% of the time of day remain for the delegates to attend the fair and Business discussions. Up to 100 exhibitors were expected with about 50 exhibitors from the European Union and 50 from Africa. To the fair, approx. 10,000 visitors were expected, of which in the broadest sense about 50% are specialized visitors.
